Dalam kehidupan sehari - hari kita pasti pernah membuat sesuatu seperti memasak, atau mengoperasikan suatu hal misalnya mengoperasikan mesin cuci. Adakalanya kita tidak mengetahui cara dari membuat atau melakukan hal itu, maka kita akan membutuhkan suatu proses yang runtut atau yang biasa kita sebut dengan prosedur. Nah, untuk itu mari kita langsung saja simak penjelasan procedure text berikut ini.
Definition
Procedure text is a text that explains how people make or doing something step by step. This type of text comes in many form, such as manual instructions and recipes. It is used to describe how something is accomplished through a squence of actions or steps.
Di dalam bahasa inggris Procedure Text adalah genre dari sebuah tulisan yang menunjukan bagaimana cara membuat sesuatu atau cara melakukan sesuatu dengan berurutan atau step by step.
The purpose
The purpose is to tell how to make or how to do something sequentially.
Tujuan dari Procedure text adalah memberikan petunjuk tentang cara melakukan sesuatu
melalui tindakan-tindakan atau langkah-langkah yang runtut.
Generic Structure of Procedure Text
The text is consist of three parts:
1. Aim/Title/Goal
It states the goal to be achieved (merupakan tujuan dari Procedure text.
Biasanya berupa judul atau deskripsi apa yang akan dibuat atau dilakukan
2. List of materials/ingredients
list the materials needed. It often gives detail on the size, color, number, shape, quantity.
memuat daftar alat dan bahan tapi tidak semua procedure text membutuhkan material.
3. Step/Method/Procedures
It describes steps in logical order to achieve the goal.

Ada tiga jenis Procedure Text yang tidak menggunakan materials atau alat - alat, yaitu:
1. Procedure Text yang menjelaskan bagaimana melakukan intruksi secara manual atau
sesuatu dapat bekerja.
Contohnya : How to use the television, the phone, or the rice cooker.
2. Procedure Text yang menjelaskan peraturan dari bagaimana melakukan kegiatan
tertentu. Contohnya : flight safety rules, video game rules in computer, dan lain lain.
3. Procedure text yang mengajarkan manusia tentang kehidupan atau yang berhubungan
dengan sifat dan kebiasaan manusia.
Contohnya: How to be happy, How to be useful for someone, how to get a boyfriend.
Ciri - Ciri Procedure Text
1. Menggunakan simple present tense.
2. Menggunakan action verbs, misalnya crack, chop, cut, heat, mix, peel.
3. Menggunakan pola kalimat perintah (Imperative).
contohnya: cut the banana into pieces,"Heat the water for 5 minutes", dan lain lain
4. Menggunakan sequence adverbs seperti first, second, next, then, finally, while, after that.
5. Menggunakan adverbials (kata keterangan) untuk menyatakan rinci waktu, dan tempat
misalnya: cook the mixture for one hours, boil the water for 10 minutes, crack the egg into
the bowl.

involves choosing the right washing cycle and setting up the water temperature. The other

Perfect Braised Beef Burger
Ingredients:
1 pack or 12 burger buns
1/3 pound chuck roast, rinsed and dried
2 medium onions, chopped
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tomato
barbecue sauce
salt
freshly ground black pepper
Steps :
Put olive oil in a pot. Then heat it on medium heat.
Cook the onions for about 5 minutes. Then, add the tomato and barbecue sauce while increasing the heat to medium high and cook for 10 minutes.
Next, add the chuck roast and cook until the meat is very tender, for about 3 hours. Stir occassionally.
Transfer the meat from the pot to a plate. Then, shred the roast into small pieces with a knife and a fork.
Set the heat on medium-high until the liquid becomes thicker. Uncover the pot. Don’t forget to stir it to prevent burning.
Put the meat back into the pan. Warm it throughly. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve on buns.
