Expressing Capability and Willingness part 2

2. Could

    Could fungsinya sama dengan can. Hanya saja could digunakan untuk mengeskpresikan

    action atau tindakan dalam bentuk past tense/bentuk lampau. Selain past tense, could

    dimaksudkan supaya lebih sopan (polite) bukan bentuk past.

    Kalimat positif
    Pattern : S + could + V1
    Example : The policeman could arrest the criminal.
                     They could invite you to the group (mereka dapat mengundang mu kedalam grup)
                     I could remember about the story. (aku dapat mengingat tentang cerita itu)

     Kalimat negatif
     Pattern : S + could + not + V1

     Example : Dani could not dance.

                      (Dani tidak bisa menari)        

               

                      Jihan could not make fried chicken

                      (Jihan tidak bisa membuat ayam goreng)

  
     Kalimat tanya
     Pattern : Could + S + V1 + ?

     Example : Could you please open the door? 

                       Could we watch the movie in the cinema?

                       Could she win the singing contest? Yes, she could/ No, She couldn’t.

3. Be able
    Be able juga memiliki arti dapat atau mampu dan dapat digunakan baik present tense
    maupun past tense. Be able to juga dapat disandingkan dengan modal lainya seperti
    (will, would, shall, should) dan lainya.
 
    Kalimat positif
    Pattern : S + be able to + V1
    Example : Erfita is able to finish the job herself.
                     (Erfita mampu menyelesaikan pekerjaannya sendiri)

                    

                     They are able to win the football match.

                     (mereka mampu memenangkan pertandingan sepak bola)

    Kalimat negatif
    Pattern : S + be not able to + V1

    Example : Mario is not able to come on time.

                     (Mario tidak bisa datang tepat waktu)

                    

                     We are not able to continue the jorney.

                     (kami tidak bisa melanjutkan perjalanan)

     Kalimat tanya
     Pattern : be able to + S + V1 + ?
     Example: Is aunt Cindy able to make a delicious cakes? Yes she is.
                     Are they able to get the best score? Yes, they are. No they are not

Stating Willingness (Keinginan)

Willingness berarti kesediaan, kemauan untuk melakukan sesuatu. Untuk menyatakan

kemauan, kita dapat menggunakan modal –will/would. Yang berarti akan/mau/sedia.

Will digunakan untuk bentuk present tense (Sekarang) sedangkan would untuk bentuk lampau.

      Kalimat positif
      Pattern : S + Will/would + V1
      Example : I will do my homework (aku akan mengerjakan PR ku)
                       I will go to the bookstore (aku akan pergi ke toko buku)

      Kalimat negatif
      Pattern : S + Will/Would + not + V1

      Example : He will not go hiking mountain.

                       (dia tidak akan mendaki gunung)

      Kalimat tanya
      Pattern : Will / would + S + V1 + ?
      Example : Will Tina go with Arum tonight? No, She will not (won’t).

      Menggunakan Adjectives : Willing (Berminat)
      Contoh Kalimat:

            - I’m not willing to help you on doing the task.

              (Saya tidak berminat membantumu mengerjakan tugas itu)

            - He is willing to come back from Australia.

              (Dia berminat untuk kembali dari Australia)
